Potable Water Test Mains water is treated to be of potable quality, and must be delivered to a building meeting specific regulations. Once inside the building, water is often delivered via drinking water outlets, plumbed-in machines or portable bottles mounted on a dispensing unit. These are often infrequently used, sit in warm environments, and are seldom tested for microbiological contamination. If scale is allowed to accumulate, coliforms can colonise dispensing heads, along with potential human pathogens. Delivery nozzles can become infected via dirty cloths, re-use of plastic bottles or being touched by dirty hands. In addition, the opportunist pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa can often colonise the internal surfaces of water delivery systems in the firm of biofilms, deliveringbacteria with every volume dispensed. Monitoring of the water system for coliform bacteria and Pseudomonas aeruginosa can provide a quick and cost-effective monitoring solution. Sterile 250 ml bottles are dispatched along with instructions for filling. The sample is then returned to the laboratory for immediate analysis. Reports can be provided within 3-5 days of receipt of the sample. The test covers Total Viable Count, Coliform bacteria as a group, and E.coli specifically.
