Caustic soda pearls, also known as sodium hydroxide or sodium hydrate, are small solids with not much odour. They are capable of exothermic reactions and are soluble in water. Industrially they are used for chemical analysis, aluminium etching and paint stripper, the pearls are also present in a range of domestic products, particularly home-cleaning products. Particularly in food processing, sodium hydroxide is used for curing foods like olives or browning Bavarian style pretzels, it can additionally be used for removing the skin from certain vegetables, tomatoes and potatoes, and as an ingredient in food preservatives to stop mould and bacteria developing in food.   Please email for prices
