Nitric Acid 69% 25L Nitric Acid 69% 25L is a nitrogen oxoacid with the formula HNO3; the nitrogen atom is bonded to a hydroxy group and then, via equivalent bonds, is bonded to the two remaining oxygen atoms. Concentrated Nitric Acid takes the form of a colourless liquid generally, however it can turn yellow or red depending on the process it is involved in or the concentration it is at, it also has a pungent odour. In the presence of light, nitrogen oxide forms which causes the nitric acid to take on a yellow colour; this can be used to stain woolen fabrics and animal tissue. Nitric acid has violent reactions when in contact with readily oxidizable or combustible materials, such as turpentine, alcohols, charcoal or organic refuse. When it contact with most metals, it normally reacts to give off a hydrogen gas. A basic list of its uses can be summarised to include its use in fertilizers, explosives, dye intermediates and other organic chemicals. Its role includes both that of a protic solvent and a regent. In relation to cleaning products, nitric acid can be used in products that remove stains or combat the discolouration of fabric, including colour safe bleaches, used in laundry. Agriculturally, nitric acid is used in the production of ammonium nitrate, which is a major component of fertilisers. Its strong reactions also enable it to be used to produce explosives, such as nitroglycerin, TNT and for oxidising metals.   If you are looking for a larger quantity, please click here.
