Calcium chloride flake is a hygroscopic salt (CaCl2·2H2O) used in various industrial, food, and commercial applications. Including de-icing, its low freezing point makes it an effective agent for melting ice and snow. Dust control, it can be applied to unpaved roads to suppress dust, a process that also helps stabilize the surface. Industrially, used in the chemical and pottery industries, and as a desiccant to absorb moisture. It is also used in brewing to adjust water minerals for better yeast health and beer characteristics.
