Benzyl alcohol is a colorless liquid with the formula C6H5CH2OH, Used as a preservative, solvent, and fragrance in products like cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and industrial paints. It has a mild, pleasant aromatic odor, is partially soluble in water, and completely miscible with other alcohols. As a solvent, Benzyl Alcohol works well in inks, paints, shellacs, waxes, lacquers and epoxy resin coatings. Used in paint stripper, mixed with compatible viscosity enhancers, encourages the mixture to cling to painted surfaces. Additionally used in the soap, perfume and flavour industries as it is a precursor to a variety of esters and ethers.
