Dextrose Anhydrous 25kg Dextrose in the most common form of glucose, also known as D-Glucose. Glucose is a simple sugar with the molecular formula C6H12O6. Glucose is the most abundant monosaccharide, a subcategory of carbohydrates. Glucose is mainly made by plants and most algae during photosynthesis from water and carbon dioxide, using energy from sunlight, where it is used to make cellulose in cell walls, the most abundant carbohydrate in the world. Specifically, dextrose Anhydrous is a form of glucose, typically coming from starch of corn. It is a sweet substance, however contains about 20% less sweetness than typical sugar. Dextrose Anhydrous comes in a crystalline form. In addition to being used as a nutrition supplement  and sweetener in food production, it is also commonly used in animal feed, pharmaceuticals and beverages. Dextrose is commercially available in monohydrate or anhydrate form, termed Dextrose Monohydrate or Dextrose Anhydrate, respectively. Dextrose Monohydrate contains one water molecule per molecule of Dextrose; the water molecule which is present is referred to as a molecule of ‘water of hydration’. ‌Dextrose is a type of sugar that usually comes from corn or wheat. Dextrose is almost identical to glucose, which is the sugar found in the bloodstream. For that reason, it can be quickly used as a source of energy by the human body. Dextrose is often used in foods as an artificial sweetener or a preservative. ‌Dextrose is often used as a sweetener in baked products because it helps them brown more easily. It’s also used in wine because it improves the fermentation process. Dextrose is also often used to preserve packaged foods and extend their shelf life because it’s not as sweet as other sugars, such as sucrose.
