Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous Granulated 25kg Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous is a chemical compound with the chemical formula AlCl3. The compound contains aluminium and chlorine in a 3:1 ratio. The anhydrous form takes the appearance of an odourless, white to grey crystalline solid. When reacting with water, it violently reacts to liberate hydrogen chloride. When in contact with skin, aluminium chloride can cause severe irritation to the eyes, skin and mucous membranes, it can also be toxic by ingestion. When contaminated with iron chloride, the result will display more of a yellow colour as opposed to the pure white compound. This product is soluble in water and freely miscible with benzene, nitrobenzene, benzophenone, carbon tetrachloride and chloroform. The anhydrous form of Aluminium Chloride has a low melting and boiling point, it is an example of an inorganic compound that reversibly changes from a polymer to monomer at mild temperatures. These properties make it particularly useful in the production of anti-perspirants, as well as working as an adhesive, building material, a catalyst and in cleaning and washing.
