The main chemicals used for cleaning concrete are dilute hydrochloric acid, which lifts mineral deposits, cement residue and rust, and alkaline degreasers, which remove oil and organic grime.
As a UK concrete cleaning chemicals supplier, we stock the acids, alkalis and specialist compounds that trade cleaners, builders and facilities teams rely on to clean, etch and maintain concrete and masonry. Whether you need a concrete cleaning agent for a single contract or a regular supply of concrete and building materials chemicals, everything on this page is available in trade quantities, from poly containers up to IBCs.
Different jobs call for different chemistry. The concrete cleaning products most in demand include:
Beyond concrete cleaning, several products in this range support the construction and finishing side of building work.
As a rule, acids handle mineral deposits, cement and rust, while alkalis handle oil and organic grime. If you are unsure which chemical for concrete cleaning suits your surface, get in touch… we will point you to the right product and grade.
Whatever you choose, dilute and handle it safely. Always read the product label and Safety Data Sheet before use, wear suitable PPE (gloves, eye protection and appropriate clothing), add acid to water rather than water to acid, and test a small, discreet area first. Stronger hydrochloric and phosphoric acid grades are supplied by quote only, in line with 2023 hazardous chemical legislation… please call or email and we will arrange supply.
For general concrete and masonry cleaning, dilute hydrochloric acid is the most common choice. For oil and grease, an alkaline degreaser such as sodium metasilicate works better.

Dilution depends on the product and the surface, so always follow the ratios given on the product label and Safety Data Sheet. Start weak, test first, and never add water to acid.
