Different jobs call for different chemistry. The concrete cleaning products most in demand include:
- Patios, driveways and brickwork — dilute hydrochloric acid (also known as brick or patio acid) cuts through moss, grime, cement haze and mineral deposits to restore the surface. Our 5% and 10% grades suit general cleaning.
- Cement smears, mortar residue and rust — phosphoric acid is a popular chemical for cleaning concrete where cement film or rust staining needs lifting without the harshness of a stronger acid.
- Oil, grease and general degreasing — alkaline products such as sodium metasilicate and caustic soda are the better chemicals to clean concrete of oil and traffic film in workshops, yards and forecourts.
- Etching before coating — where concrete for building or resurfacing needs a key before sealing or painting, a controlled acid etch opens up the surface.
Choosing the right chemical for concrete cleaning
